"And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord." - Luke 2:8-14
On one starry night, long ago, a baby was born in a manger. The angel describes this infant to the cowering shepherds as their "Savior... Christ the Lord!" Now, I imagine these Jewish men did not expect the King of Kings to come as a baby. But after they went to see Jesus, lying in a manger, their natural response was to go and tell everyone. This Messiah came for you and me too, to save us from our sins and make a way to have a relationship with God.
