The 19%

According to Barna research, only 19% of Christian teens say they’ve personally been discipled in how to share their faith. That’s right...less than one in five. And meanwhile, teens are navigating complex cultural conversations every day — conversations about identity, justice, truth — without knowing how to bring Jesus into them.

And if we don’t disciple them, the world will and already is. Discipling teens to share their faith isn’t just a “nice-to-have.” It’s essential. And they can absolutely be incredible witnesses for the Kingdom of God. First Timothy four twelve (4:12) says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because of your youth….”

Let's equip the young people of our church, walk with them, answer their questions, and show them how to talk about their faith confidently.

A Young Mission Field

Did you know one of the largest mission fields isn’t across the ocean—but it’s in our own communities and schools? In our high schools, Christian teenagers are surrounded daily by friends and classmates searching for identity, hope, and truth. And yet, many Christian teens feel unprepared to talk about their faith.

But how do we disciple our youth to confidently share the Gospel? Well, we need to teach them how to have a Gospel conversation, model for them a life of boldness and compassion through sharing our faith, and help them know why they believe what they believe.

Teens are not the Church of tomorrow—they’re the Church of today. And if we equip them now in how to tell others about Jesus, we multiply the Gospel’s reach exponentially. So let's not wait. Let’s raise a generation who can say, “I know Jesus, and I know how to tell my friend about Him too.”

Samuel's Prayer

When we learn to share the Gospel, we become part of something eternal. This past September, Samuel walked into our ministry’s Uganda office. Homeless, jobless, and abandoned, he’d spent nights on the streets of Kampala, desperate and hopeless. He told us, “I thought about ending my life so many times…I just needed someone to talk to.”

That’s when he met Francis. Francis listened, and then shared the Gospel. In just 25 minutes, Samuel surrendered his life to Jesus, tears streaming down his face. He received a Bible, prayer, and a bus ticket home. And just four days later—Samuel got a job offer out of the blue!

Today, he’s working and growing in his faith at a local church in his hometown. God works through believers to bring hope to people like Samuel. But it is our job to be ready to share!

Follow God's Leading

When we ask God for opportunities to share the Gospel, He answers—sometimes in ways we don’t expect. One evening this past September, a young man in Kenya who learned how to share his faith felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to speak with two young men from a nearby village. He had recently been to one of our evangelism trainings, where he learned exactly how to share the Gospel clearly and confidently.

As they sat together, he asked them two diagnostic questions, and one believed he was saved, while the other trusted in his good works. But after hearing the Gospel, both realized their need for Jesus. That night, they prayed to receive Him as Lord and Savior!

When we ask God for opportunities to share the Gospel, He will answer us. So, I’d like to challenge you today...ask the Holy Spirit to guide you to someone who needs the Gospel, and then follow His leading!

Jesus Saves

The Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation for everyone who believes. Last August, in Kasungu, Malawi, a young girl was moments away from taking her own life. But God had another plan. Evance, who had just learned how to share his faith, heard about her situation and went to her home.

While others were trying to reason with her, Evance brought something more: the Gospel. He gently asked her two questions about if she knew if she was going to Heaven and what she’d say to God if He asked her why He should let her in. She broke down in tears. Right then, Evance shared the hope found in Jesus—and she received Christ as her Lord and Savior. That day, her life forever changed. She gained hope and joy she did not have before.

And here’s the truth—there are also people around us who feel hopeless and alone. Like Evance, will we share with them?
