Glorification

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! Hope—that essential element for continued effort toward any great goal. “My flesh,” said David in Psalm sixteen, “...will rest in hope." Can you say that?

It depends upon your faith, because faith looks back and anchors itself to the Cross and gives life to a hope, which looks forward to a crown. “Hope is never ill when faith is well,” said the extraordinary John Bunyan. Even William Shakespeare said, “My hopes in Heaven dwell.” Jesus Christ has given to us the only real and substantial hope that the world knows. He told us in John fourteen, “In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you...” And when we place our trust in Jesus, the moment we pass from this world to the next, we will be glorified and see this promise fulfilled.

Sanctification

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! First Thessalonians four verse three (4:3) tells us, "It is God’s will that you should be sanctified..." This brings us to our theological word of the day: sanctification.

It's the process after we come to saving faith in Jesus where we become more like Christ. This continues until we are called home to Heaven. It's like an artist chiseling a beautiful sculpture. Through much of the process, it's messy and difficult—as the creator chisels away the stone to make a priceless piece of art. This is what Christ does to those who put their trust in Him! He creates in us a pure heart as He guides our path. And we become more like Jesus through reading His Word and responding, spending time in prayer, telling others the Gospel, being in fellowship with other Christians, and worshiping our amazing God.

The Hypostatic Union

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! Something I have been pondering lately is the matchless, never-ending, wonderful love of God. Isn't it amazing that the God who created the universe—and us!—gave up His glorious throne to step into this world as a man.

Now don't get me wrong—Jesus is God. He’s always been one hundred percent so. At the same time, He came to earth, born as a baby... He is also one hundred percent man. This is known as the Hypostatic union. And when He was born, His glory was veiled. It must have been quite difficult for Him to humbly take on flesh, but Jesus did it out of His great love for us, and His desire for God’s glory.

He chose the road to the cross because He knew His perfect life must be the sacrifice for our imperfect ones. He came to live beside us and share how we can have eternal life. For more on how you can share this with others, visit our website at sharelifeafrica.org

Justification

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! This week, we will be diving into some big, theological words in the Christian faith, and they are important because they teach us more about our faith and what Jesus has done for us. Today's is justification.

What does this mean? Imagine yourself in a courtroom being tried for all the sins you have committed. The Bible tells us clearly the punishment for our sin..."For the wages of sin is death..." However, when you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you are justified. In that moment, the gavel crashes down...but the guilt and punishment are now accounted to Jesus. He took our sin on Himself and gave us His righteousness.

Instead of being guilty, we are now clean. This is justification—“just as if I’ve not sinned”. But to receive it, we must place our full and complete trust in Jesus and what He has done for us. Let's share this amazing news! Learn how you can at sharelifeafrica.org

Led by the Holy Spirit

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! In Acts one eight (1:8), Jesus tells His disciples, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth.” This important verse teaches us something—we must be led by the Spirit.

In fact, sharing the Gospel without the Holy Spirit's help would be pure folly. It is the Spirit that moves in people's hearts in regards to salvation. We have the blessing of being the messenger; but in and of ourselves, we can’t save anyone. Only God can do that. It is so important that we ask the Holy Spirit to lead and to guide us. And in His power, we can be God's witnesses and take the Gospel to the very ends of the earth.
