Evangelism Training

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! Here’s an example of intentional witnessing. Nou (pronounced New)and two other ladies from her church attended an evangelism training event. This was Nou’s text the day after the training.

“Our flight was cancelled so that God could lead us to talk to the manager of the hotel and share the Gospel with him. He prayed to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior.” Then a few months later, another text from Nou said, “I witnessed to sixteen of my nieces and nephews at my family reunion—ranging in age from nine to twenty-nine. Ten of them prayed to receive Christ.” And then there was yet another text: “We attended a soccer tournament and got to witness to ten people. Two prayed to receive Christ.“

Understanding of Salvation

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! What’s your understanding of salvation? For far too many of us, our thoughts of salvation have been reduced to something like raising our hand at the altar call, "accepting Jesus", then making God a part of our lives to help us and bless us.

Not only does this rob God of His due glory, we rob ourselves of the real blessing and fulfillment that comes from subverting our will to His—making Him Lord of our life. Jesus didn't die on the cross to give us “get out of Hell free cards”; He died to restore us to Him and to completely transform us to be like Him. We have work to do as we live out our days here! In fact, Ephesians 2:10 tells us that we are specifically created to do good works that God has planned for us.

Make A List

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! Often, we have a desire to talk to our neighbors, but we would feel more comfortable if we had a reason or icebreaker. I read an article by Ed Stetzer that talked about his experience when he and his family moved into a new neighborhood.

There was an elderly couple that came up to the door and gave them a 4-page document outlining everything from the best local pizza to the best grocery store. Toward the bottom of the paper, they had the “best church” where they listed their church and an open invitation to join them anytime. The list gave these people a reason to start a conversation with new neighbors that would ultimately lead to a Gospel conversation.

This is an easy way to share your faith with your neighbors. You can follow up with them later to see if they've tried any of the places on your list, and ask for them to join you at church. For more resources, visit our website at sharelifeafrica.org

Your Neighbour As Yourself

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! How are you doing at loving your neighbor as yourself lately? Today, as always, we are to love others as Jesus has commanded us to. Not only do our actions contribute, but so do our thoughts towards our neighbors.

Now, I know that no one can read minds, so you may be thinking, 'why does it matter what I think about someone as long as I am nice?' Well, it matters a lot! Jesus told us to first love the Lord with all our hearts and then, love our neighbor as ourselves. So how are you doing on that? In your thoughts? In your words? In your actions?

If we will consider others better than ourselves, like we're told to do in Philippians chapter two, then we will be well on our way to loving people the way Jesus commanded us to. The Good Samaritan

You’re listening to ShareLifeAfrica! "Who is my neighbor?" Do you remember the time an expert of the Jewish Law asked Jesus this question in Luke ten? What was Jesus' response?

Jesus shared a parable about a man who was beaten and left half dead on the side of the road. Both a priest and a Levite passed by and did nothing to help. But a Samaritan man—viewed as an enemy to Israelites—stopped and took care of the hurt Jew. Jesus asked, "Which of these three was a neighbor to the hurt man?" And the expert correctly answered, "The one who had mercy on Him." And guess what?

We are to do likewise. Jesus commands us to have mercy and love even our enemies. And one of the greatest ways we can do this is to share the hope and peace found only in Jesus.
