The Greatest Impact

Who has had the greatest impact in your life?

Maybe a parent, sibling, coach, friend, teacher, mentor...the list could go on and on. Why do they have such an influence? Well, most likely, they were there for you through thick and thin. Whatever you faced, they braved it with you. They had compassion, understanding, words of advice, and they weren't afraid to tell you when you were wrong. They did all of that because of their great love for you.

So let me challenge you that as you make new goals for yourself this year to consider finding another person to pour into just like you’ve experienced. You can make an incredible impact in their life. If they don’t know Jesus personally, God may be giving you an opportunity to share your faith with them.

If they do have a relationship with God, you may be the mentor that they’ve been looking for. The love that Christ has shown to us, we have the opportunity to share with others.

A Fresh Start

Do you make New Year’s resolutions?

Whether or not you are someone who creates a habit of that or not, a New Year is a great time for a fresh start. Many people decide that it’s the perfect time to learn something new! Whether it's a language or skill, they resolve that it's time to start mastering it. Can I challenge to do the same in your spiritual walk with Christ?

One area where many Christians would like to grow is as an everyday witness for Jesus. Even though we know that Christ has left us the Great Commission—"to go make disciples of all the nations"—many Christians feel ill-equipped to share their faith. They don't know where to begin. Let me encourage you today to start sharing with others what God has done in your life. He’ll use your testimony as a way to open doors to spiritual conversations.

God's Leading Hand

The goal of most people’s lives is to arrive at death safely. Is that your goal?

Oh, you might get through life—everybody does, one way or the other. But that doesn’t mean that you are going to accomplish anything of any eternal worth in the sight of Christ. For without Him, He told us, we can do nothing. But here’s the thing:

Not only does God promise us His guidance, but also He provides that guidance and has done so from the very beginning. He led Enoch on a walk that took him all the way to Heaven. He led Joseph from a dungeon to the throne of Egypt. He led David from keeping the sheep to sitting upon the throne of Israel. And He leads us today and has given us a great purpose—to share the Gospel!

Don't get stuck

Do you remember the day when God was about to take Elijah up to Heaven? On the journey, Elijah and Elisha stopped at several places.

Each time, Elijah offered for Elisha to stay there, but Elisha refused. Gilgal was where Elisha was from. For him, it was the starting line. Jericho was a place of a grand triumph for God’s people. But Elisha refused to stay put at the beginning, not growing, or in past victories. He traveled with Elijah over the Jordan River and saw God take him up to Heaven. In a sense, Elisha crossed over a servant but came back a prophet. He gave up his life to the Lord’s service and, in turn, got a new and better life.

So my question for us today is: are we stuck not growing or simply celebrating past victories? Or are we committed to giving up our whole life to the Lord for His service—living for Him and sharing the Gospel?

Living for Others

Sami grew up determined to live for himself. He would work hard, make a lot of money, and live life his way. Soon, he was working as a waiter at an international hotel when he met an elderly couple.

They were always looking for opportunities to share their faith. After one year of seeing the couple, Sammy finally listened to the Gospel and gave his heart to Christ. His life plan changed. Now,he would live life for others. Sometime later, he met another young man in the hotel lounge. Sami befriended, shared the Gospel with, and helped him to see what his life could be with Christ. That man’s name is Franklin Graham.

Today, Sami is now a pastor of a church of around thirty thousand people. What started as an elderly couple simply determined to live for others has led to many thousands, perhaps millions, who have been blessed by what God has done through Franklin and Sammy. Let’s live for others and share our faith.
